This is a photograph from my "Best Of" collection. It is no secret to those who follow my work that I love hummingbirds. In fact, I have labeled this adventure "The Hummingbird Project." Every May and June my goal is to capture the ruby-throated hummingbird in a new and fresh way.
This image is without a doubt my favorite from The Project. The juxtaposition of the two flowers and the hummingbird form a strong composition, locking the viewer in along the lines of the invisible triangle. This hummingbird, a male, has amazing color and the reflection of the red gorget can clearly be seen. The background is a clean background of local vegetation and further helps the viewer concentrate on the subject. To see more of this image and other images of hummingbirds, click the link below.
